4 days in the Negev (and 2 days at Muss)
wednesday july 14 we went to the Negev, which is a desert that is over 50% of israel. it is quite barren but it actually shrinking, the only place in the world with a shrinking desert is israel! woohoo! so on wednesday we went to Kibbutz Revivim, the first of the 11 kibbutzim founded, and let to the Jews being allowed to own settlements in Israel. this kibbutz Avraham Klasky. then we went on what Yossi called a "nature walk" which actually consisted of hiking out of a caynon in 110 degree weather. it was really beautiful and all but REALLY hot. but after that we went CAMEL RIDING!!! it was sooooo fun and a really great experience! camels are really ugly
:( im sorry but i thought they would be prettier. we spent the night in a bedouin tent, which is a real tent and we met a bunch of cool people and saw a very different life style.
thursday july 15 we visited kibbutz yahel. it was interesting we found out about their Pamelos for peace organization. it is really interesting, i wouldnt have thought of it, you should look it up. After that is when we went to Eilat jewlery store and oh my gosh i want diamonds!! they are soooo pretty! we did go to a really awesome disco boat! it was tiring and hot out but it was really fun to see israel in the night time, it is so beautiful.
friday july 16 we hiked a mountain in Eilat again, terribly hot. but the top was beautiful, you can see 4 countries its super cool. the way down was really really scary! it was steep and narrow path and just dangerous but no worries, i got through with just a minor cut and bruise :D then came the snokeling! sooo pretty and cool to be underwater! i am rso glad i brought my water proof camera! then shabbat services, i miss TBE services :(
saturday july 17 restful shabbat and havdallah, then back to campus.
sunday july 18 daddy's birthday and visited two battlesites.
monday july 19 we picked tomatoes for a charity called Table to Table with some israeli teens
thats it for now

july 13
today, was a really fun day. we got Dor our awesome shomer and Hiam our awesome beyond awesome bus driver back! we missed them like crazy! Hiam lets us have disco dance parties in the bus. its sooo fun! then we went to the beach, i believe the mediterrean sea, and played a saving gave in the water, representing the 5th ayliah. it was crazy fun :) then we went to a detention center place (ill check on the name) where jews were taken after concentration camps. they looked just like the camps so they assumed they were going through the exact torture they had just escaped from. after that we went to a prison where many jewish heros were hanged. it was the most heart breaking thing to see. we went to the actual gallows where 9 jewish men were actually hanged. after our hectic afternoon we went to a cave that had the most beautiful few of the mediterrean sea. it was absolutely breath taking. all and all it was a very good day! :)

lately
soo the other day i forgot to mention that we went to a crusder fortresss, i believe the last one still standing.
but this shabbat, we had home hospitality weekend. so we stayed one night with host families. i was paired up with Sammie and our Israeli was Adva. she's 17 and has an older brother and younger sister. as well as 2 dogs and 2 cats. they are sooo cute! can we get one mommy and daddy? :D we just hung out had some good meals and bonded over the fact that we all like a bunch of the same music! it's so sababe (cool in hebrew) that being in totally different countries, teens can still be interested in the same music.
Adva's family is very nice and out going. her mom is argintinian and her dad is brazilian. it was a very good experience and a lot less awkward than i thought it wiould be :)
today, july 12, we went to Yad Vashem, the Holocaust memorial/muesem. it was really touching and an experience i hope to never forget. i have heard many things about this terrible event. but seeing this place in person, even tho the holocaust didnt happen here, is just making it that much more real. today i heard the experiences and horrified lives of so many, made miserable just because of their beliefs.
i could not take pictures inside but i dont think i need them to remember all the great and terrible things that i witnessed today.
the childrens memorial was definately a major tear jerker. it was beautiful and really made me realize how many innocent lives were taken. we all know the number 6 million. 1.5 million were defenceless children, who's lives were taken simply because they were jews. they had not done anything wrong. most had no idea what it really even meant to be jewish yet.
the names of the 3 million known victims of the holocaust are written in binders desplayed all around the last room in the main exibit. i could not even grasp the number 6 million. and the names written were just over half. this was a terrible event that should never happen again. we have to make it never happen again.
